Medical Professional Warnings
“People are administering materials they can’t verify. Even if the science behind this drug is sound, these digital products may not include what they advertise,” said a pharmacy expert, the head of pharmacy at a pharmacy service.
Dr Crystal Wyllie of Asda Online Doctor connected the increase in demand to current cost increases for authorized weight-loss drugs such as Mounjaro. “With prices rising, patients are turning to social media. But fake treatments are highly dangerous. You can’t be certain what’s inside or whether the conditions they were produced in was sterile,” she explained.
Her staff has previously encountered patients harmed by self-injection from unconfirmed suppliers. “We understand the disappointment, but buying from messaging apps or communication platforms is taking chances with your well-being,” stated Wyllie. “These substances could be impure or incorrectly dosed.”
Manufacturer Position
A representative from the pharmaceutical company said the substance was in phase 3 clinical trials and had not been reviewed or approved by any regulatory agency anywhere in the world. “Therefore at this point no one can sell [it] for human use,” they explained, adding that any product “falsely representing itself as a Lilly experimental substance not yet approved … may subject users to potentially serious medical dangers”.
